Good time for old sayings

The old saying goes, “All elections are local.” While that is true, I mean you vote in your precinct, that is definitely local. But that local vote that you cast has nationwide implications. If you have been following the chaos in Washington, we can say conclusively, that the chaos is created as a result of many people not voting. It takes votes to elect politicians and votes to vote them out.

I am so proud of all the students that participated in the March for our lives in Fort Worth, across the state, the US and in Washington. What you are seeing is the future. Young people are telling the world what they want their future to look like. It is different from the one that we live in. One thing that the politicians can’t seem to understand is that you can have guns and gun control at the same time. They certainly don’t understand the creativity and determination of these young people.

So. Let’s talk about idiots. You have a lot of idiot politicians around. And the reason they get elected is that too many people stay home on election day. I spoke to a lady today that told me her vote does not matter. How wrong she is. But. That behavior is home grown.

Back to the fiasco in Washington. In the span of one year, America has lost its place as the leader of the world. You see that in Russia killing its citizens in a foreign country by using nerve agent. You see it lately in China getting together with North Korea prior to the meeting between North Korea and Trump. China has declared itself as the pit bull of Asia and it is letting the Asian countries that there is only one pit bull in that area.

Militarily speaking we may be the most powerful country in the world and that is because we have a lot of nuclear bombs. Threatening to drop a nuclear bomb on a country is about as stupid a thing as you can say. One bomb would probably kill a million people. Does it make sense that to teach a leader a lesson you are going to kill a million-innocent people? We have been in Afghanistan for several years. We cannot defeat a puny little group called the Taliban. We have the same problem in Iraq. Thousands of our veterans suffer from PTSD as a result of multiple deployments. We did not win Vietnam and Korea. The current crop of politicians starting at the top don’t have what it takes to lead a country or be the leader of the free world. Time to stop finitizing.

Which brings me tack to local. Do you know how your tax dollars are being spent? Do you know who is spending your tax dollars? Have you looked at the condition of your schools? Do you know why metal detectors are ineffective?

If you are like the lady I met today, I hope that you realize that your vote is important. You are right, now one is going to give you anything for voting. That would be illegal. But what you do get is that good feeling that you did your patriotic duty.
